Saturday 23:
Oriental to Beaufort. 72deg. Saturday Oct 23 12pm. Sunny. Good tide. Anchored at Beaufort water front with Dale and Debbie on Dragonfly. Ate dinner at Ribeys. Boat issue with SeaTalk and Nema instruments.Sunday 24: Sunday @ 4:00 am. Anchored up and went thru Beaufort inlet heading to Wrightsville Beach Inlet (ocean side). Dale had broken wire on oil sensor. He installed a jumper and all good. Ocean near flat. Light winds on starboard beam. Cool air 58 degrees. Approaching bombing range, had to change course for 3 military ships. They passed us and we continued through the range. 6 am and a full moon. We dodged 2 more military ships and almost landed a big Tuna. Continue motor sail to Wrightsville with mostly wind on the stern and only main up. Anchor down at 4:30pm.
Monday 25: Anchor up at 7:30am to a cloudy rainy day 73 degrees. Watched big motor yacht run aground in middle of channel. Arrived at South Harbour Village Marina (St James Marina) by 1:30pm. About $56 for the night. Still having some instrument issues. Order new cable. Washed boat and filled water tanks. Played spades with Dale and Debbie. Chased a water bug away.
Tuesday 26: 8:00am 68 degrees. Left St James Marina heading to Calabash anchorage, arrived at 1:05pm. Partly cloudy then it turned sunny all day. Repaired corroded wires on SeaTalk. All is working again. Jumped in dinghy and traveled to town of Calabash and then to Inlet. Cooked steaks on the grill tonight.
Wednesday 27: 8:00am 47 degrees, sunny and clear with light winds. Pulled anchor and heading toward Osprey marina to wait out blow and rain storms on Thursday. Arrived at 1:15pm.
Thursday 28: Rain day at Osprey marina. Played Pickle Ball this morning with Dale. Ate lunch at Bumz on the Beach. Ate dinner with Elizabeth and Chucks parents at Outback.
Friday 29: Untied at 7:00am 68 degrees. Heading towards Georgetown, SC. Winds are light with partly cloudy skies. About a knot of tide against us Anchored at downtown Georgetown at 12:45pm.
Saturday 30: In Georgetown visiting shops and ate lunch at Rollin Local’s restaurant with Dale and Debbie. Excellent Hibachi Chicken. Had a hot fudge brownie sundae for dinner. Heading to Dewee Creek Anchorage in the morning on the way to Charleston.
Sunday 31: Halloween. 50 degrees and partly sunny. Raised anchor at 7:00am and heading south. Winds 8 to 12. Able to sail some. Had stuck mailsail roller furl. Anchored at Dewee River by 3:45pm. Fixed roller furl main.
November 2021
Monday 1: Anchor up at 7:00am, 58 degrees and sunny We have a few opening bridges today. Winds around 13 knots northeast. Heading to Ashepooh anchorage. Went through Elliot’s Cut against a 4 knot tide. Fighting tide most of day. Long day, anchor down at 5:30pm.
Tuesday 2: 53 degrees Sunny. Anchor upat 7:15am, heading to Beaufort SC Mooring field. Dale dropped his cell phone in the water. Our AIS receiver is not working. Need to fix it. Arrived at mooring field by 12:30pm.
Wednesday 3: Beaufort SC on mooring ball, $30/night. Cold am 50 degrees. Ate lunch at Plums. Great burger and then walked to Chocolate Tree. Worked on instruments again. No luck. Watched Survivor.
Thursday 4: Leaving mooring field at 7:30 am. 52 degrees. Heading to anchorage near Hilton Head. Bull Creek. Stopped at noon. Continue to work on instruments. No luck.
Friday 5: 7:30am, 50 degrees cloudy and 15-20 north winds. Anchor up at Bull Creek heading towards Isle of Hope Marina. Arrived 11:15am. Big storm, non-tropical heading this way. Ate dinner with Dale and Debbie at Driftaway Cafe, $39. Rainy and windy tonight. Worked on autopilot computer.
Saturday 6: Rainy and windy. 48 degrees. Still at Isle of Hope Marina. Continuing to work on instruments. Finally got them working. Corrosion issues.
Sunday 7: Left dock early at 8am. Time change today. Cold damp and misty rain. Non-tropical storm slow to leave us. 50 degrees warming up to 55. Sun is out now 62 degrees. Anchored down 2:40pm at Wahoo River2. Fixed all electronics today!
Monday 8: Anchor up at 6:45 am. Sunny and 55 degrees. Heading to Jekyl Island Anchorage. Winds around 10-15 north. Head sail up. Warmed up to 69 degrees. Anchor down at 3:30pm. Stuffing box was leaking a bunch. Dale came over to help with repair.
Tuesday 9: Sunny 52 degrees light wind. Anchor up at 6:45am, on our way to Fernandina anchorage. Arrived at noon. Walked around town ate at Peppers Mexican restaurant. Saw Discovery Anita and Bob. Found a small diesel leak and repaired it.
Wednesday 10: 56 degrees and sunny. Heading to Little Sisters Creek. Bumped ground a few miles from Fernandina. Made it too early to Anchorage so we continued to Saint Augustine anchorage and anchored at 4:45pm. We will get a slip for 3 days in the morning.
Thursday 11: Moved boat to marina. Ate with Dale and Debbie at MoJos BBQ $50.
Friday 12: 64 degrees, partly sunny. Still at St. Augustine Marina. Took a bus to grocery store. Worked on stuffing box again. Fixed. Still have a small diesel leak at engine. Washed boat and chain locker. Had Chinese Chicken on boat. Met some Canadian friends.
Saturday 13: Still at Marina. Worked on fuel leak with Dale. Narrowed it down to Fuel injector pump.
Sunday 14: 55 degrees. Took boat to Sait Augustine Lighthouse Anchorage at:7:30am to meet Mike and Loraine on Mintaka. He tried to fix fuel leak. Still leaking. Went 50 miles to Daytona to where Dale and Debbie anchored. Anchored in the dark at 6:40pm. Made a Pizza and went to bed
Monday 15: 51 degrees partly sunny. Anchor up at 6:40am and heading to Titusville Marina. Arrived at 2:30pm.
Tuesday 16: Sunny and warm today. Tied up at Titusville marina. Flights booked to head home tomorrow for the holidays. Mechanic booked to repair engine while we are gone.
Wednesday 17: Clear skies. 58 degrees. Flying home today on Southwest Airlines for free with points and took a Tesla Taxi to Airport $70 .
January 2022
January 6, Thursday. Clear Skies 60 degrees. 6 knots wind NW. Untied dock lines from Titusville, heading 40 miles to Melbourne. Left just after 8 am
January 7, Friday. Anchor up at 7am. 68 degrees mostly cloudy. Light winds Heading to Vero beach city marina. Renting a $50 +$24 insurance car from enterprise to provision, get spare boat key, and Tohatsu male fuel connector.
January 8 Saturday 70 degrees partly sunny. Light winds. Took car to Walmart $300 food provision run. Going to Chef’s Linns for lunch. Drove by Beach and returned rental car. Dinghies by Equinox and saw Rich and Ruth’s.
January 9, Sunday 65 degrees and Sunny. Worked on cleaning the boat inside and out. Still at Vero Beach moorings.
January 10, Monday 65 degrees 1/2 day sunny with heavy winds and some rain later. Still at Vero Beach Mooring field. Took Dinghy ride to beach and hung out on the sand for a while.
January 11, Tuesday. Woke up to cloudy morning about 65 degrees. Ate lunch with Ran, BB, Rob, and Fran at Riverside Cafe.
January 12 Wednesday. About 65 degrees. Moving on to Hobe Sound to anchor out. Good motor sailing day winds 15-17 on beam. Some rain in the evening.
January 13 Thursday. 63 degrees. Moving to West Palm Beach Lake Worth to anchor out and wait for weather window to make Miami Stadium. Some rain this morning
January 14 cool this morning then heated up to mid 70s. Took Alicia to Publix on dinghy. Dropped her off near bridge and waited at Peanut Island. Prepped for 70 mile run to Miami.
January 15. Cool morning and headed to ocean just before sunrise. Making 70 mile run to Miami. All sails up and motor running. Ocean a little roller. Winds are west around 8knots. ETA to Miami is 7:30pm. Wrapped prop in seaweed.
January 16. Alicia’s birthday. Big winds coming in today. +45knot winds, rain, and lightning. Anchor held well. Worked on JennaBird’s engine. Tighten bolts, filled oil, talked to mechanic about oil usage.
January 17. Chill day in Miami. Installed printer.
January 18. Covid testing at Stadium today 8am. Had to get an Uber for the test. Negative test results. Applied for Bahama travel Visa. Dove on prop today. Used wet suit. Cleaned shaft, rudder,and prop.
January 19. Moving to No-Name Harbor. Will get fuel first at Crandon Marina. Went into town and got more groceries from Winn Dixie. Worked with NoLimits John and Joanne to complete customs forms. Leaving 5am to Bahamas Bimini
January 20. Pulling anchor at 5am have 48 nautical miles. Reported conditions 2ft at 11 knots SE. not true. We had 20-25 ESE 4 ft waves every 2-3 secs dry steep. Took 12 hours to cross. Broke mainsail outhaul sheet and ripped sail 18”. Very tough crossing. We checked in, with no issues. No-Limits, Equinox, and Solstice crossed as well.
January 21, got Covid tested, got hotspot chip. Had dinner drinks at Big Game Marina with the above group. Fixed outhaul and cleaned boat. Walked to beach and chilled. Air Temps around 77. Alicia fell on deck.
January 22 Saturday. Party with NoLimits and group at Big Game Marina Pool. Went
to beach too.
January 23. Cloudy and cool all day. Last day at Bimini. Jessica an Ryan
Adventures came to our Marina. We rented golf cart and drove entire island
January 24. Heading towards Chub Cay with group. Good Sail/ Motor Sail day.
Started 7am arrived at 6:30p at NW Shoal. Not too. Bumpy then Flat.
January 25. 4 knots wind. Heading to West Bay Nassau. Near perfect conditions.
Motor sailed most of way. Flat calm seas. Broke the autopilot belt. Replaced it
on the go, did not stop! West Bay was calm for anchoring and through most of
night. SV Adventure, Equonox, and Solace crossed together. Hamburgers on the
grill for dinner.
January 26, Wednesday, moving on to Shroud Cay. 15-20 close haul. Motor sailing
because of short wave period. A bit choppy but we’re okay. Going to anchor on
north side of Shroud.
January 27, Thursday. Heading to Staniel Cay. Light winds under 10. Sails are up
and little motoring. Was able to talk to Life of Chill in Georgetown on the VHF.
Wow.
January 28, Friday. Made a dinghy run to Staniel Cay Yacht Club for water,
garbage, and diesel. Then again for a $70 Lunch and drinks. And then to the
grocery for $30 of food. Went dinghy riding and then beach. Scott on Catalyst
had a motorized surfboard.
January 29, Saturday. Big windy front today blowing 20s and 30s all afternoon
and night. Stayed on boat all day. Took a nap.
January 30 Sunday. Moved to Big Majors anchorage at Cruisers Beach. Had two
beach parties. Met a bunch of previous cruisers.
January 31, Monday
February 2022
February 1 Tuesday. Sailed to Black Point. Winds 15-25 east. Little chilly. Big
party at Scorpios. 2 for 1 rum punch and appetizers. Going to do laundry
tomorrow.
February 2, Wednesday. Alicia did laundry at 7am today. Winds still blowing in
the 20’s. Hold here at Black Point for another day. Maybe a Buffet party at
Loraine’s tonight. Buffet party is on! Rich, Ruthy, Matt, Dedra, Sue and Rick
Fears, Sherry and Mike Pullen, Christina, Steve and Jackie off of Refuge, David
and Carrol off of Onward, John and Joanne off of No-Limits
February 3 Thursday. Nice day. Warm 76 deg 15 knots of wind. Going to be a chill
kinda day.
February 4 Friday. Dinghy to beach with Rich and Matt’s crew. Met up with
Carribean Dream for drinks at Scorpios.
February 5 Saturday. Got water and dumped trash today. Sailed to Little Farmers,
Oven Rock. Perfect sunny day. Heading in to Little Farmers in a bit. John and
Wanda crossed to Bimini today.
February 6 Sunday. Kinda a chill day. Winds 15 knots. Replaced bow roller and
scrubbed bottom some. Went to Buffet Dinner at Ocean Club with group. Had fish
lobster and chicken. Good time.
February 7 Monday. Sailing back to Blackpoint with Equonoix and Solace. light
winds. Made a water run to government docks. Dinghy to Iguana Beach for the
afternoon.
February 8, Tuesday. Motored to Staniel Cay near Cruisers Beach. Met up with
Kindred Spirits,Tracey and Robert. Went snorkeling near Cookie Jar Beach. Walked
through to CJB and floated around in perfect water. Saw Scott and Sonya on
Catalyst. Scott got hurt in Wing Foiling accident. John and Wanda made it to
West Bay,Nassau.
February 9, Wednesday. Took garbage and diesel and water to Staniel docks.
Grocery run. Dinghy trip to north of Big Majors and ocean. Squall blew through
during sunset. Rain and heavy winds. John and Wanda made it to Hibourne. They
will meet us at Shroud Cay tomorrow.
February 10, Thursday. Sails up at 7:15am. Heading to South field anchorage at
Shroud Cay. Going to be a dinghy explorer day with Lazy Day.
February 11, Friday. Sailed to WarderickWells great winds and conditions. Ran
aground while getting mooring ball. Got help from neighbor boat. Climbed Boo Boo
Hill and placed painted sign. Went snorkeling with John and Wanda. Then grilled
chicken with them on Jennabird.
February 12 Saturday. Sailed to Cambridge Cay with Lazyday. Anchored near beach.
Snorkeled Aquarium and plane at O’Brian’s Cay. Met Dan and Vicki off of Gracie.
We all chilled on the beach.
February 13, Sunday. Staying at Cambridge for north blow. Hiked halfway around
Cambridge. John and Wanda came over for dinner and Super Bowl.
February 14, Monday. Alicia made breakfast for Valentine’s Day. Somewhat rolley
in anchorage with north winds at 20.
February 15, Tuesday. Winds blew hard -20-35. Watched a Movie, called 355.
Stayed on boat all day
February 16, Wednesday. Still windy most of day. Cleaned Vbirth and big locker.
Met John and Wanda on beach and then went back at 4pm for cruisers meet and
greet.
February 17, Thursday. Heading to Big Majors and Staniel Cay in the morning.
Stopped at Pipe Cay for seas to settle down for a while the continued to Big
Majors. Dinghy to Cruiser’s Beach. Had pizza for dinner.
February 18, Friday. Went to Staniel for Diesel and took Johnny too for water.
Johnny got free water. Went for a dinghy ride to Sampson Cay then ate Lunch at
Staniel Cay Yacht Club and made a grocery run. Spent afternoon on Cruiser’s
Beach in the water.
February 19, Saturday. Went dinghy riding to Compass Cay, Obrian Cay, and Pipe
Cay. Went snorkeling at the Groto and Cookie Jar. Met up with Dan and Vickie on
SV Grace.
February 20, Sunday. One month in Bahamas. Pancake morning. Sailing to Black
Point. Light winds about 10 knots. Ate lunch buffet at Loraine’s Cafe. Worked on
sea water filter for boat. Worked on solar panels.
February 21, Monday. Did laundry this morning. Took walk to Black Point Blow
Hole. Worked on Solar panels. Going for drinks on SV Sheet Music with Mike and
Lisa.
February 22, Tuesday. Got water from Blackpoint today. Something went wrong and
ended up with bad water. Went to Scorpios happy hour with entire gang and more
February 23, Wednesday. Sailed to Jacks Cove to spend the night. Beautiful beach
and good anchorage. Had a party on Jennabird with Dan, Vickie, Mike,Lisa, John,
and Wanda. Popcorn and Pizza.
February 24, Thursday. Blowing about 20+ knots east this morning. Heading to
Rudder Cay. Only made it to Oven Rock near Farmers Cay. Went hiking to ocean
side to a nice beach with turtles.
February 25, Friday. Heading to Rudder Cay/ Piano and Darby’s. Going to wait for
tide rising. Didn’t wait long enough, ran aground for a little while today. Went
to beach at Rudder.
February 26, Saturday. Waiting for low tide to dive on the Piano. Went to Darby
Islands to watch turtles and starfishes. Had happy hour on Gracie’s boat with
group.
February 27, Sunday. Going snorkeling today at location near Piano. Looks like a
good reef.
February 28 Monday. Heading towards Georgetown. 34 nmiles. Sheet Music caught a
Mahi. Seas a little bouncy. Light winds on the nose. Mahi fish tacos on Sheet
Music tonight.
March 2022
March 1, Tuesday. Zipped to Browns Marina in dinghy with Vicky and Dan. Then
zipped to Georgetown for lunch, water run, and groceries. Had appetizers on John
and Wanda’s boat. Said good bye to Sheet Music, Lisa and Mike.
March 2, Wednesday. Moved boat from Sand Dollar Island to Monument Beach.
Heading to Flip Flop Beach and walk over to ocean side.
March 3, Friday. Put names using rocks at Monument Beach this morning. Went to
Chat N Chill for lunch with Lazy Day and Gracie. Went to Ruins at Crab Cay with
John and Wanda. Met back with Ruth and Rich in Equinox. Saw a Space-X launch go
overhead.
March 4 Friday. Went across to Georgetown for groceries and some water. Went to
Hamburger Beach with Lazy Day and crossed to ocean side. Went to Flip Flop Beach
for afternoon. Then watched a movie.
March 5, Saturday. Winds picked up above 20knots. Stayed on boat most of day.
Went to Chat N Chill with group for Volleyball and then Peace and Plenty Beach
Club for dinner.
March 6, Sunday. Wind is still blowing hard. Helped SV Gracie with wind turbine.
Headed to Hamburger Beach with Lazy Day and Gracie. Rain ran us off the beach.
Cruisers did a trivia night on VHF.
March 7, Monday. Winds are a bit less this morning at 15-20. Went to Chat N
chill today. Then went to Peace N Plenty for happy hour.
March 8, Tuesday. Made Water run with Johnny this morning. Went to Driftwood
Cafe for pizza. Hung out at Flip Flop beach most of day with Tracey and Robert,
Jason and Carra, John and Wanda, Dan and Vicky. Also with a bunch of kids.
March 9, Wednesday. Decided not to go to Rudder Cay today. Made propane run to
sun oil co with John and Wanda. Fixed solar panels wiring. Hung out on Flip Flop
Beach. Went to concert on the water. Had upside down pizza on boat.
March 10, Thursday. Heading to Rudder Cay 6:30 am. Ocean side was a little tore
up. Hooked several big fish but they all broke loose. Anchored at Rudder but the
wind direction was poor. Picked up anchor and made it to Black Point for
Scorpios Happy Hour.
March 11, Friday. Still at Black Point. Going to be a laundry and water day.
Headed to Staniel Cay. A bit rolley at first. Winds around 10 knots. Went to
Cruisers Beach for afternoon
March 12, Saturday. Headed in for Diesel and Gas this morning with Johnny. Bumpy
ride. Winds around 13 knots. Going to dinghy to Cookie Jar Beach 1 mile away for
snorkeling and swimming. Came back to boat at 3pm. Anchorage is very bouncy.
Took a 2-1/2 hour nap.
March 13, Sunday. It’s Daylight Savings Day. Winds turned north and blowing
20ish. So far a cloudy day. Sonya and Scott came by to say Hi.
March 14, Monday. Rainy and cooler and still windy. Waiting around lunchtime for
going to Staniel club with John and Wanda. Decision made to head North in the
morning.
March 15, Tuesday. Heading to Hibourne Cay today 43 miles with John and Wanda.
Weather is sunny and winds 10knotsish. Did an afternoon on the beach in front of
Hibourne. Rode dinghy around to back of island
March 16, Wednesday. Heading to Nassau this morning. Conditions not the best,
but good enough. Met up with Adventure, Lisa and Scott. John and Wanda came over
for dinner
March 17, Thursday. Heading towards Bimini. Medium winds and waves. Long day.
Made it 3 hours from Bimini 7am - Midnight.
March 18th, Friday. Sailed from Bimini to West Palm Beach. Took 11 hours after 3
hour haul to Bimini for checking out and fuel.
March 19, Saturday. Heading to Hobe Sound from North Palm Beach with lazy Day.
Short day ate a wahoo fish dinner with Lazy Day.
March 20, Sunday. Heading to Vero Beach. Super slow travel day. Winds and tide
against us. Stayed at Loggerhead Marina resort. Very nice marina and reasonable
prices. Ate at Chefs Linn Chinese Buffet
March 21, Monday. Staying one more day at Marina. Laundry and groceries.
Swimming pool with a hotdog bbq as well.
March 22, Tuesday. Heading towards Titusville. Nice day so far winds are behind
us.
March 23, Wednesday. Pulled into Titusville Marina this morning. Going to stay
two nights for a major storm to pass. Ate lunch at C’s Waffles. Very good Burger
and Onion rings.
March 24, Thursday. Went for a walk today. Mostly a windy and rainy day. Heading
for Palm Coast Marina tomorrow.
March 25, Friday. On way to Palm Coast Marina 66 mile day.
March 26, Saturday. Left Palm Coast 8 am. Made it past Jasksonville to Gunnings
anchorage. Tried Little Sister and Jim King, but no luck. Anchored just before
dark.
March 27, Sunday. Left Gunnings anchorage, heading to St, Mary’s inlet. Ocean is
a bit bumpy with some 1-2 foot. Anchored at Darien Creek.
March 28, Monday. Left anchorage with no wind. Went out Doboy Inlet. Almost ran
aground. Ocean was like glass with the exception of the last hour. Winds and
waves picked up a bit. Anchored at Bull Creek near Hilton Head.
March 29, Tuesday. Heading to Beaufort, SC. Started 6:45am. Fought wind and
tide, but still made it to Lady’s Island Bridge for opening. Staying 3 nights at
Lady Island Marina waiting for a huge blow. Ate lunch at M and M sandwich shop.
Caught up to Dale and Debbie.
March 30, Wednesday. Still at marina. Ate dinner at Dockside. Went to Hardware
store. Had ice cream at M and M.
March 31, Thursday. Had lunch at M and M with Dale Debbie John and Wanda. Worked
on A/C.
